Creating a Community Food Discussion
Community Food Discussion
No matter whether you are a producer, or a chef, a farmer, grower, or simply a lover of food, it plays a crucial role in all of our lives. Food is our medicine. It sustains life, and sustains many livelihoods. Yet the existing system is exerting immense pressure on the environment through pollution, climate change, habitat destruction, and an alarming reliance on imports and fragile supply chains.
County Carlow Environmental Network are inviting you to a gathering of our community on Wednesday, 2nd October in Carlow Educate Together National School at 7pm where we will be asking the question:
What might a local food community look like?
We will be encouraging everyone to consider:
- What are we consuming?
- What is on our plates?
- What can we, the community do?
- What values drive us to take action?
- What do we care about to act upon?
- Why are we not eating more local food?
Growing local, producing local, selling local, buying local and most importantly, eating local is something we are all aiming to do.
We invite you to be a part of the dialogue, a gathering in search of that network of people who care about our local food system, who want to create a new vision for a food community in our County.
No need to book, just turn up and participate. We’d love to see you there and help us create the change for a happier, healthier future.
